Acting Interim Director of Neighborhood and Community Services
Vicky McLaurin
Vicky McLaurin was appointed to serve as the Acting Interim Director of Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) in June 2025. Vicky has worked at the City since 2016 and most recently served as the Systems and Strategy Division Manager, informing the strategic direction and implementation of human services programming. Vicky has worked on a variety of projects collaborating with multiple departments (i.e. Public Works, Tacoma Police Department, Tacoma Fire Department, and Sustainability) and manages the contractual relationships, and implementation of the Community Trauma Response Team, Violence Reduction and Prevention, Mayor’s Guaranteed Income, Beacon Youth Shelter renovation, Street Medicine, and Neighborhood Councils. Vicky has also worked on intergovernmental relationships such as Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, Parks Tacoma, Pierce County, Tacoma Public Schools, Department of Commerce, and Department of Justice Federal Funding.
Before the City of Tacoma, Vicky worked at the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). As a DSHS employee, Vicky worked with the former DSHS Secretary facilitating community conversations on the Governor’s Budget, changes in DSHS policy, and other initiatives. Vicky spent 15 years in the commercial lending industry and served on the Governor’s Economic Services Advisory Board Committee.
She brings a strong sense of the pulse of the community, with the ability to engage and lead staff which will be essential to helping NCS continue refining its data-driven approach to human service delivery.
Vicky is from California and resident of Tacoma since 1991. She loves spending quality time with family and friends which often involves cookouts, playing cards, dancing, and watching professional boxing.
