Fire
Our mission is to protect people, property, and the environment, and professionally and compassionately serve the community. The Tacoma Fire Department was formed in 1880 and continues to evolve as a progressive and responsive public safety organization.
Tacoma Fire Department cares about our city and strives to serve all who live, work, and play here. In addition to responding to emergencies, including structure fires, requests for emergency medical help, hazardous materials incidents, and technical rescue situations, we also provide resources for fire and injury safety, education and training opportunities, fire code and permit information, disaster preparedness and variety of other support services in our community.
