Our Battalion Chiefs train regularly to refine their skills, too! These chiefs are always prepared to oversee operations on incident scenes, and execute effective and efficient strategy.
Today, our battalion chiefs attended a Simulation Lab Training. This training gives battalion chiefs ...the opportunity to practice running events, while receiving feedback from other battalion, operations, and admin chiefs. It also provides TFD company officers the opportunity to role play during the event and refine their own leadership and communications skills.

Memorial Day is this weekend! Are you planing to grill out? If so, here are some helpful grilling safety tips!
🌤️ Only use propane and charcoal BBQ grills outside.
🏡 Keep your grill at least 3 feet away from siding, deck rails, and eaves.
🐩 Keep children and pets at ...least 3 feet away from your grill.
🔥 Open a gas grill before lighting it.
👀 Supervise your grill when it's on.
🧯 Keep a fire extinguisher or charged garden hose nearby.
🧽 Clean your grill after each use to prevent grease fires.
🪨 Place coals in a metal can with a lid after the coals have cooled.
First time starting up your gas grill this season?
👀 Check the gas tank hose for leaks before using it for the first time each year.
🧼 Apply a light soap and water solution to the hose.
🫧 A propane leak will release bubbles.
❌ If your grill has a gas leak, by smell or the soapy bubble test, and there is no flame, turn off both the gas tank and the grill.
⛔️ If the leak stops, get the grill serviced by a professional before using it again.

It might be rainy this weekend, but don't get fooled! Wildfire season is upon us, and all of our firefighters have been refreshing their brushfire-fighting skills.
Last Friday, our Probationary Firefighters experienced wildfire training alongside @gig_harbor_fire_medic_one . It gives... us all an opportunity to learn more together and work more effectively as a team when a wildfire threatens our Pierce County community.
Fighting different kinds of fires (house, car, brush, etc.) requires different approaches and techniques. Fortunately, our firefighters keep their skills fresh and are always prepared for anything!

Today's #ThrowbackThursday is from May 12, 1924. These Clement Avenue District women are shown learning how to use an emergency fire hose cart. These South Tacoma women had to be prepared if a fire happened nearby since we didn't have Station 7 right up the street, yet. We're glad ...that these women took preparedness seriously while TFD was still growing.
