Tacoma Venues & Events (TVE) continues its SkillShops series with Permits, Programs, and Resources, a free virtual session designed to help event organizers navigate permitting and licensing processes. The session takes place on Monday, May 19 at 11 a.m. via Zoom, with a second session coming up June 16.
Participants will hear directly from members of the City of Tacoma’s special events team and representatives from key permitting agencies. This collaborative session will offer insight into permit and license requirements, environmental programs, and essential services available to support public events in Tacoma and is ideal for event planners of all experience levels looking to streamline the permitting process and better understand city resources.
Presenters include:
-
Michael Hubbard, Tax & License Compliance Officer, City of Tacoma
-
Anthony Kolvick, Solid Waste Route Supervisor, City of Tacoma Environmental Services
-
Amanda Peters, Environmental Health Specialist III, Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department
-
Vincente Robles, LT Fire Investigator, Tacoma Fire Department
-
Ryan Schroeder, Regional Event Supervisor, Parks Tacoma
-
Ashley Young, Special Events Coordinator, Tacoma Venues & Events
This workshop is the first in a two-part permitting series. Up next is Permitting Public Space: How to Host Events on Tacoma Streets on Monday, June 16 at 11 a.m. This second permitting session will walk organizers through the steps of activating Tacoma’s public right-of-way for their events, with guidance from City staff and Pierce Transit. While the two sessions complement one another, each SkillShop is designed to stand alone—attendees are welcome to join either or both.
