On January 30, 2026, at approximately 7:30 a.m., a Community Service Officer (CSO) with the Tacoma Police Department was dispatched to the 7000 block of South Lawrence Street for a report of a motor vehicle theft.

Upon arrival, the CSO met with the victim, who reported their truck and attached cargo trailer had been stolen overnight. The victim stated the vehicles contained nearly all of their personal belongings, as they had recently moved to Washington from out of state for a new job. In an effort to prevent theft, the victim had removed the vehicle battery; however, this did not deter the suspect.

In the weeks following the theft, the victim began locating items believed to be their stolen property listed for sale online and provided this information to police. Detectives were assigned to the case and, through their investigation, identified a suspect.

On March 30, 2026, detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence. That afternoon, the warrant was served, and one adult male was taken into custody. He was booked into the Pierce County Jail on charges of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Trafficking in Stolen Property in the First Degree, and Possession of Stolen Property in the First Degree.

As a result of the investigation, the victim was able to recover a significant portion of their stolen property, including the cargo trailer.

The investigation remains ongoing.
