Community members are invited to explore the future of Pacific Avenue at a Code Update Open House on October 20, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Moore Branch of the Tacoma Public Library (215 S. 56th St. in Tacoma), with a brief staff presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m.
“Tacoma’s Eastside has long been underinvested in,” said Tacoma Mayor Anders Ibsen. “Picture Pac Ave creates a community shaped vision for more housing, trees, and increased street safety.”
This event focuses on the draft Pacific Avenue Subarea Plan, a community-driven vision for growth, environmental review, and capital investments along the Pacific Avenue corridor. Attendees will learn more about the proposed zoning changes, Environmental Impact Statement, and timeline for public comment.
Other updates — on the Tree and Landscape Code, Off-Street Parking requirements, and the $1.6 million participatory budgeting process for District 5 — will also be shared at this event.
Light refreshments as well as Spanish, Korean, and Vietnamese language services will be available to event attendees. Community members can also request materials in Russian, Ukrainian, Tagalog, Samoan, Khmer, and simplified Chinese by emailing planning@tacoma.gov.
