Learn about:

• Pacific Avenue Subarea Plan – The Picture Pac Ave Subarea Plan, currently under consideration, is intended to create a community-shaped long-term vision and coordinated approach to development, environmental review, and strategic capital investments along Pacific Avenue. Learn about the Planning Commission’s proposed zoning changes and get updates on the forthcoming public release of the Draft Plan and Environmental Impact Statement and public comment period. The City of Tacoma has determined that the Pacific Avenue Subarea Plan (“Picture Pac Ave”) may have a significant adverse environmental impact. An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) under RCW 43.21C.030(2) (c) will be prepared.
• The Tree and Landscape Code Update – The Tree and Landscape Code Update is a process to explore establishing new land use and development regulations regarding tree canopy management and preservation in the City of Tacoma. The Planning Commission is in the process of developing draft code that will be subject of public review and comment in October/November 2026 TBD.

• Off-Street Parking Code Update – The City of Tacoma is updating its off-street parking regulations to comply with new Washington State laws and support housing affordability, walkability, climate action, and multimodal transportation. Recent state laws limit when and how cities can require off-street parking. The proposed update would remove minimum parking requirements citywide and help reduce development costs and auto dependence.

• $1.6 million Participatory Budgeting process for Tacoma’s 5th City Council District
