The City of Tacoma invites community members to the opening of the J Street Neighborhood Greenway on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. located at Edna Travis Park, 2301 South J Street, in Tacoma.
Opening celebration highlights include:
- Family-Friendly Ride: A slow-paced, kid- and family-friendly bike ride along J Street, starting at 5:30 p.m. from Edna Travis Park and led by 2nd Cycle Tacoma.
- Festive Ribbon Cutting: At 6 p.m., participants will gather for a ride-through streamer ceremony in place of a traditional ribbon cutting.
- Community Activities: Opportunities to learn more about the neighborhood greenway project, and brief remarks from project team members.
The J Street Neighborhood Greenway is designed to reduce speeding and improve safety and accessibility for people walking, biking, and rolling to local businesses, schools, transit, parks, and other daily destinations. The two-mile route extends from North 3rd Street to South 27th Street, with east-west connections on South 11th Street, Earnest S. Brazil Street, South 17th Street, and South 18th Street.
