J Street Bicycle Boulevard

Project Overview

This project will construct a two-mile bicycle boulevard on J Street from North 3rd Street to South 27th Street. It will also improve east/west bicycle connections via 6th Avenue, South 11th Street, Earnest S Brazill Street, South 17th Street, and South 18th Street. These connections will provide access to Link Light Rail stops and key neighborhood destinations including the Hilltop Business District and People’s Community Center. New features will include:

• Traffic calming diverters
• Curb bulb-outs and center medians
• Improved pedestrian crossings
• ADA-accessible signals and curb ramps
• Bicycle detection at signals
• Intersection improvements
• Markings, lanes, and/or protected lanes for bicycles along connection routes
