New Lower-Cost Monthly Parking Option Launching September 1, 2026

Starting September 1, 2026, the City of Tacoma will offer a new lower-cost monthly parking option for people who meet income eligibility requirements.

Parking costs can add up for people who regularly need to be downtown. The Reduced Rate Monthly Parking is designed to make regular downtown parking more affordable while connecting people with available parking in City-owned garages and lots.

If you qualify, you can receive a monthly parking permit at a reduced rate available at participating downtown parking location, subject to availability.

Who Can Qualify?

You may qualify for Reduced Rate Monthly Parking if your annual income is $60,756.80 or less.

Before your permit can be issued, you’ll need to verify that you meet the income requirement. We’ll walk you through that process after you complete the intake form.

  1. Get Your Permit
    Once your eligibility is verified and an available parking location is confirmed, we’ll help you set up your Reduced Rate Monthly Parking and provide the information you need to start parking. If permits are full when you apply, we’ll let you know and may place you on a waitlist.

You can verify your eligibility using one of the accepted forms of documentation. This may include:

  • An employer certification or email.
  • A W-2 from the most recently completed tax year.
  • A recent paystub showing your pay frequency.

You don’t need to provide this information when you complete the initial intake form. A Customer Service Representative will explain what is needed when they contact you.

No. If financial documentation is needed, staff will review it only to verify your eligibility. Copies, scans, or electronic versions of your income verification documents will not be retained. Only your eligibility status will be recorded in the parking system.

The number of Reduced Rate Monthly Parking permits is limited. If permits are full when you apply, we’ll let you know and may place you on a waitlist until a permit becomes available.
