Mobile App Payment Options for Parking
Expanded Multiple Mobile Payment Apps
Starting July 20, 2026, the City of Tacoma has expanded mobile payment options for paid parking. Customers will have more flexibility when paying for parking by phone and will be able to choose from multiple approved mobile payment apps.Â
Look for updated signs. New parking signs will be installed throughout Downtown parking areas to identify the mobile payment options available for on and off-street parking in Tacoma.Â

Why We’re Making Changes
The City is expanding mobile payment options to make parking easier, more flexible, and more customer-friendly.Â
Many people already use mobile parking apps in other cities. By offering multiple payment options, customers will often be able to use an app they already have on their phone instead of downloading a new one specifically for Tacoma parking. The change will also support a more consistent and convenient parking experience throughout Tacoma’s public parking system.Â
All payment options provide the same parking session, rates and parking rules. Customers may use whichever approved payment option they prefer. Additional payment options may be added in the future as they become available.Â
Which Payment Option is Right For Me?
| If you want to... | Best Option |
|---|---|
| Pay with cash or credit card | Pay Station |
| Use an app | ParkMobile or Passport |
| Pay without an app | Text to Pay |
What This Means For You
The expanded mobile payment options will make parking easier and more convenient by:Â
- Providing more ways to pay for parking by phone.Â
- Allowing customers to choose the app that works best for them.Â
- Reducing the need to download a specific app just to park in Tacoma.Â
- Supporting Tacoma’s Pay by Plate parking system.Â
- Maintaining the same parking rates, rules, and time limits regardless of payment
