Amy Clancy

As Media and Communications Director, Amy Clancy leads the City of Tacoma’s marketing, public relations, media relations and internal communications efforts by driving the delivery of accurate and timely information about the City of Tacoma through a variety of multimedia outlets. This includes TV Tacoma, Tacoma’s government access television station. She also develops and executes strategies to promote government transparency and encourage civic engagement.

Amy Clancy is a communications professional with deep experience in journalism, crisis communications, community and public relations, social media messaging and development, video production, and team management. She came to the City of Tacoma in April 2023 directly from the Seattle Police Department, where she served as Director of Strategic Communications during three of the most challenging years in the department’s history, overseeing its Public Affairs Office.

Prior to her stint with the Seattle Police Department, Clancy was a national and local award-winning journalist at KIRO 7 in Seattle, holding a variety of positions including investigative reporter, anchor, and newscast producer.

Clancy was born and raised in Lakewood, WA. She graduated from Lakes High School and the University of Washington. After living and working in Seattle for many years, Clancy and her husband moved back to Tacoma in 2021.
