It's time for June's activity for your Ready-in-a-Year plan!
This month, think about what you would need to be completely self-sufficient for two weeks. Think of it like preparing to camp at home since a significant disaster could make roads impassible. Electricity, water, ...natural gas, other fuels, and groceries might not be available. Could you shelter-in-place at home for two weeks?
Things to think about this month:
🧻 What are YOUR daily essentials?
🤔 How can you maintain your essential needs during a major disaster?
♟️ Can you stay entertained without power or wifi?
💧 Do you have enough nonperishable food and water for every household member (including pets)?
🔦 Have you checked your flashlight or headlamp batteries lately? Do they need recharging?

If you're heading out to enjoy the water this weekend, remember that the water you're enjoying just melted off of a glacier or from our snowpack. It's cold enough to cause cold-water shock and hypothermia. Please exercise caution if you are out on the water, and wear a life vest!
