This web page brings together Solid Waste Management resources designed specifically for schools and educators.

Everything in One Place

School administrators, teachers, custodial and kitchen staff, students and student groups, and Parent Teacher Associations/Organizations can use this resource hub to easily find information, download materials, and access support—all in one place. Washington State Organics Requirements

The Washington State Legislature passed organics management laws in 2022 and 2024 to reduce the amount of organic material sent to landfills. These laws prioritize food waste prevention, food rescue, and composting. Many Washington businesses—including public and nonprofit entities such as schools, churches, and hospitals—are now required to arrange for organic materials collection.
