The Office of Management & Budget (OMB) supports the City by providing fiscal planning, analysis, and management services that help the organization deliver effective and efficient services. OMB coordinates development and ongoing monitoring of the City’s biennial operating and capital budgets, prepares the six-year financial forecast, and produces monthly and quarterly financial reports. The office works with departments and stakeholders to develop proposed and adopted budget documents, provides performance measurement and analytical support, and promotes clear, accurate, and transparent financial information for City leadership and the community.

2021-2026 Capital Facilities Plan (CFP)

City Council considers substantial investments, often called capital projects, that should be made over a six-year horizon. The resulting document is called the Capital Facilities Plan and is mandated by the Growth Management Act. The CFP shows the City's desired projects, available resources, and alignment with the Comprehensive Plan. The 2025-2030 CFP project list is currently under consideration by the Planning Commission.

Participatory Budgeting

Participatory Budgeting is a community-driven process that empowers residents to decide how a portion of the City’s budget is allocated. District 2 and District 4 have allocated funding to a downtown skatepark and community-led youth and cultural programming initiatives, respectively. General Government Fee Schedule

The City’s General Government Miscellaneous Fee Schedule outlines the City's fees for providing services. Examples include Tacoma Fire Department permits, Urban Design review, preparation of deeds and easements, use of the Tacoma Police firing range, production of public records, and more. Biennially, departments review the Fee Schedule for fees related to their services and request updates to better reflect the cost of providing services.
