
Call-2-Haul
For the curbside removal of furniture, appliances, and household items utilize our Call-2-Haul Program! Residential Solid Waste customers can schedule two pickups or self-hauls a year at no cost. Commercial customers also have access to curbside pickup for a fee.
Call-2-Haul is a convenient way to responsibly dispose of large household items, furniture, appliances, or yard equipment without the hassle of a trip to the Tacoma Recovery & Transfer Center. Explore the information below to see how easy it is to schedule your Call-2-Haul pickup.
How to Use Call-2-Haul

1. Check Accepted and Not-Accepted Items

2. Review Your Items
Residential customers can dispose of:
- Up to Three Large Items:
Examples include mattresses, couches, power yard equipment, barbecue grills, washers, dryers, refrigerators, wheelchairs, rolls of carpet (up to 6 feet in length and 1-foot diameter), and exercise equipment. - Up to 15 Boxes or Bags of Smaller Items:
Small appliances, lawn chairs, broken toys, bicycles, boxed fans, strollers, and clothing.
Please Note: No household garbage, recyclables, yard waste or hazardous waste are accepted.
3. Schedule a Pickup or Self-Haul
- Residential Curbside Pickup: Call (253) 573-2468 to schedule.
- Self-Haul at the Tacoma Recovery & Transfer Center: Customers can also self-haul two loads per year at the Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center. Call (253) 573-2468 to make an appointment.
4. Set Out Items
- Place all items at the front curb by 7 a.m.
- Clear the area around items from obstructions (vehicles, buildings, powerlines, trees).
- Ensure all items were disclosed to your agent.
Please Note: Depending on the items disclosed, two types trucks may be assigned.
Please be advised that items not reported or do not adhere to our guidelines will not be collected and may be left behind.
- Up to Three Large Items:

2. Schedule a Pickup
Account holder may call (253) 573-2468 with the solid waste or power account number, pickup address, and contact information.
3. Billing
The Call-2-Haul fee will be added to your power bill (if applicable) or your business’ solid waste account.
- Single Pickup: $75
- Double Pickup: $150

Up to Three Large Items
- Appliances (refrigerators, stoves, water heaters, washer/dryers, etc.)
- Barbecues (remove all propane tanks, charcoal, and ashes)
- Carpet (up to six large rolls per haul, six feet in length and one foot in diameter is considered as one large item)
- Some electronics (no televisions or monitors)
- Furniture (mattresses, couches, chairs, tables, shelving, patio sets, etc.)
- Power yard equipment* (weed whackers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, etc.)
- Lawn mowers* (no riding mowers)
- Large power equipment* (table saws, air compressors, generators, etc.)
- Recreation/exercise equipment (bicycles, treadmills, basketball hoops, weight benches, kayaks etc.)
- Kitchen and bath items (sinks, toilets, vanities, bathtubs, and countertops less than six feet in length)
- Hot tub and cover (6+ person hot tubs, please cut into four separate pieces)
*All batteries, gasoline, oils, and other fluids must be removed before Call-2-Haul pick up.
Up to 15 Boxes and Bags of Smaller or Medium-Sized Household Items
Each box or bag must be light enough for one person to lift.- No household garbage, recyclables, or construction debris
- Clothing and linens
- Baby items and toys
- Small appliances (vacuum cleaners, blenders, microwaves, etc.)
- Household tools
- Housewares
- Small electronics (radios, printers, etc.)

- Household garbage, recycling, food, or liquids
- Hazardous materials
- Televisions, computers, or monitors
- Construction materials (sheet rock, insulation, fencing, roofing, cement items, decking, lumber, etc.)
- Cars, trailers, or other vehicles
- Tires or vehicle parts (seats, fenders, doors, canopies, engines, transmissions, etc.)
- Yard waste or wooden pallets
