Background
Hello! I’m the District 2 City Council Member, which includes parts of downtown Tacoma, the Stadium District, Old Town, North Slope, the Port of Tacoma, and Northeast Tacoma. I’ve lived in Northeast Tacoma with my husband, Stan, since 2008. We have two adult daughters, Miriam and Gabrielle, and just welcomed our first granddaughter. I am a proud graduate of Gonzaga University, which I attended on a cross country scholarship, earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a minor in history. I also earned a master’s degree in environmental studies from The Evergreen State College. I have a professional background in city planning and have also worked to raise funds for several non-profits that focus on environmental education, university funding, sexual assault and abuse, and business development.
Elected in November 2021 and re-elected in 2025, I envision a more vibrant Tacoma that is supportive of business growth and the creation of more living wage jobs, while also helping community members who are in need. I am Chair of the Community Vitality and Safety Committee and serve on the Government Performance and Finance Committee. I am the proud Chair of the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center Board.
Committed to addressing affordable housing and homelessness at a local and regional level, I served as a member of the Affordable Housing Consortium and the Associated Ministries Board. Maintaining a steady focus on equity in all of my work, I’ve served on the City of Tacoma’s Human Rights Commission to study and investigate problems of prejudice, bigotry, and discrimination, and to encourage and coordinate the implementation of programs consistent with the needs and the rights of all Tacoma residents. An active member at Temple Beth El, I have served in a number of leadership roles, and now co-chair Temple Beth El’s Social Justice Committee. If you want to talk to me about an issue facing you, reach my office any time via email or phone at (253) 591-5100.
