The City of Tacoma Public Works Department’s Street Operations crews will be out for another round of Pothole Palooza from September 30 – October 13, 2025. During this time, crews will showcase the maintenance and preservation of 10 arterial roadway locations, with work slated to take place in each of Tacoma’s five City Council districts. This work is made possible through funding from the voter-approved Tacoma Streets Initiative I fund.

“Keeping our streets safe and reliable is one of the most basic yet most important services a city can provide. I’m proud of our Street Operations team, who works tirelessly to repair potholes and maintain our roadways,” said Mayor Victoria Woodards. “Their hard work makes a real difference in the daily lives of our residents and Pothole Palooza is a great annual opportunity to highlight them.”

“We all know how frustrating and dangerous potholes in our roads can be and, with our wet weather, our roads in Tacoma are particularly vulnerable,” said Council Member John Hines. “Local government has many jobs to do, but fixing potholes and keeping our streets safe for travel is one of our top priorities. Pothole Palooza is a fun opportunity to inform our community about potholes and showcase the City’s commitment to fighting them. We are filling potholes every day, all year long, and I’m excited that this event will help celebrate and raise awareness about the great work our Street Operations team does.”

Following the completion of Pothole Palooza, Street Operations – as they do every day – will continue to work on Tacoma’s streets throughout the year.

Traffic control measures—including lane closures and detours—will be in place to safely guide drivers and pedestrians through or around each Pothole Palooza work zone. Because each site is unique, traffic management will vary. In some cases, traffic may be diverted or temporarily stopped to protect both workers and the traveling public. Advance notice boards will be posted at each location at least one week before work begins.

The community is asked to continue reporting potholes through the Tacoma FIRST 311 Customer Support Center by calling 311 within Tacoma city limits, (253) 591-5000 from anywhere else, or by visiting tacoma.gov/311.
