The City of Tacoma’s Planning and Development Services Department recently received the Jurisdictional Outreach Award for its work on Home in Tacoma from the Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO).
This annual award recognizes jurisdictions across Washington state that have made an exceptional effort to communicate with their communities and demonstrated a strong commitment to their customers through the successful implementation of a program designed to expand awareness of building codes and safety.
Home in Tacoma paved the way for more diverse, affordable, and sustainable housing options throughout Tacoma. New and updated zoning regulations went into effect on February 1, 2025. More information on the Home in Tacoma Standards and Zoning package is available on the City’s website.
Community members with questions on Home in Tacoma can contact Alyssa Torrez in the City’s Planning & Development Services Department, Long Range Planning Division, at atorrez@tacoma.gov or (253) 878-3767.
