Capital Ready: Preparing Businesses for Growth in Public Contracting Workshop on August 26, 2026

The City of Tacoma’s Equity in Contracting Program, in collaboration with local financial institutions, invites small businesses to participate in an interactive workshop titled Capital Ready: Preparing Businesses for Growth in Public Contracting.

This interactive panel discussion and networking event is designed to help Tacoma-area businesses better understand their financing options and build relationships with local capital providers. Attendees will hear from representatives from local and national banking institutions.

The workshop will be held at Edison Square, 5415 South Tacoma Way, on August 26, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m., and include:

  • Moderator: Scott Lundt, CM&AA, CBI, MSFE, Co-owner of LED Trail, a clean energy solutions firm delivering turnkey infrastructure for EV charging, energy storage, and commercial and industrial LED lighting.
  • Panelists: Shelia Winston, Vice President, Certified Senior Business Consultant, Chase Bank; Brent Robinson, Business Relationships Manager for South Pierce & Thurston Counties, BECU; and Jimmy Ng, Senior Vice President, Business Banking Sales Leader, KeyBank

The discussion will focus on financing readiness, working capital, lender expectations, common barriers to obtaining capital, and funding solutions that can support growth, equipment purchases, contract performance, and larger public-sector opportunities. Before and after the panel discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to connect directly with lenders and business resource partners.
