Asphalt Repairs on Ruston Way to Cause Single-Lane Traffic and Delays on Saturday, March 21

Tuesday March 10, 2026
Ruston Way

To minimize weekday commuter impacts, the City of Tacoma’s Street Operations crews has scheduled essential asphalt repairs on the southbound lane of Ruston Way near Alder Street (the 3000 block) for Saturday, March 21. Work is expected to take one day, beginning at 6 a.m. and concluding at approximately 6 p.m.

During this time, Ruston Way will be reduced to a single lane, which will create traffic delays. Drivers traveling along the waterfront should plan for extra travel time or consider alternate routes.

Notice boards and traffic control signage will be in place to guide the public through the area. While general vehicle access may be limited in the immediate work zone, crews will ensure that access to nearby businesses and buildings is maintained at all times.

Because this type of roadwork requires dry conditions, this schedule is strictly weather-dependent. If weather forces a delay, the project will be postponed and rescheduled.

The City will provide any necessary updates on its website, social media platforms and pre-construction signage.

Community members with questions about this work can contact Project Supervisor Thomas Adams at tadams@tacoma.gov or (253) 591-5870.
