World Cup 2026 Kick Off Parade – Road Closures and Access Information

The World Cup 2026 Kick Off Parade hosted by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians will take place on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 7:30 p.m. to approximately 8:45 p.m. along portions of Portland Avenue and surrounding streets. 

To support parade operations, public safety, and event setup, the Puyallup Tribe of Indians and the City of Tacoma will implement temporary road closures and traffic restrictions throughout the area. 

Road Closure Times

Road closures are expected to begin at approximately 2 p.m. and remain in place until approximately 11 p.m. on June 12, 2026. 

Closure Locations

The following streets are expected to be closed during the event: 

• Portland Avenue between East 40th Street and East 29th Street  

• East 38th Street between East L Street and Portland Avenue  

• East 30th Street between Portland Avenue and East 29th Street  

Recommended Detour Routes:

Northbound Traffic

East of Portland Avenue 

• East 64th Street → Waller Road → Pioneer Way  

West of Portland Avenue 

• McKinley Avenue → Wiley Avenue  

Southbound Traffic

East of Portland Avenue 

• Pioneer Way → Waller Road → East 64th Street  

West of Portland Avenue 

• Puyallup Avenue → Pacific Avenue  

East/West Travel Across Portland Avenue

Traveling westbound (east side to west side) 

• Roosevelt Avenue → East 44th Street → Portland Avenue  

Traveling eastbound (west side to east side) 

• East 44th Street → Roosevelt Avenue  

Parking and Transit

Parking and Fan Zone Express bus service will be available from the Tacoma Dome and Pierce Transit stations.

When will access restrictions be in place? 

Vehicle access impacts are expected between approximately 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026. Times are subject to final confirmation. 

 

What should residents and businesses in the parade route area expect during the event? 

During the restricted access period: 

• Streets will be closed to general vehicle traffic  

• Entry and exit from driveways or side streets may be restricted  

• Access may only be permitted at designated crossing points when safe to do so  

 

Will emergency services still have access? 

Yes. Emergency vehicles will always be able to access the area. 

 

What should residents do if they need to leave during the event? 

To avoid delays or restricted access: 

• Plan to leave before 4:30 p.m. if there is a need to travel during the evening  

• Park outside of the affected event area if you plan to leave during this time 

• If returning home, arrive before restrictions begin or wait until roads reopen  

• Expect increased traffic and delays immediately before and after the event
