Women in Fire Service – Information Session

The Tacoma Fire Department is hosting two Women in Fire Service events for women who are considering a career in the fire service. The event will give you the opportunity to use basic firefighting tools, and you will learn from TFD’s women firefighters. This is your chance to meet other women in the fire service and ask questions specific to women in the profession.

We have two available sessions: September 19 and October 10.

What to Expect

• Hear from women leaders with TFD and the City of Tacoma
• Discuss a career in the fire service
• Learn about career advancement within the department and beyond
• Hear first-hand accounts of what it’s like to be a woman in the fire service
• Understand our hiring process, salaries, and benefits
• Ask questions you might otherwise be hesitant to ask

Attendees will have an opportunity for hands-on activities like pulling hoses, EMS skills, and handling equipment.
