Utility Connection Permitting 101

Surfacewater (STORM): Connection to City stormwater system or installation of a stormwater facility.

Wastewater (SEWER): Connection for side sewer, grease interceptor, floor drains, toilets, sinks, dumpster pads, oil/water separators.

Water (WATER): Connection (from the meter to the building) for domestic or commercial water service.

Permits to connect from the water main to the meter are issued by Tacoma Water, at Tacoma Public Utilities. Please contact them at mytpu.org or (253) 502-8247.

NOTE: Separate permits are required for utility work within the right-of-way.
