Project Overview

The City of Tacoma Environmental Services Department is upgrading critical infrastructure at the North End Treatment Plant (NETP) to ensure reliable wastewater treatment for our community and protect Puget Sound.

This project includes:

  • Construction of a new trickling filter to increase capacity and provide system redundancy.
  • Expansion of the disinfection contact basin to meet projected flow rated through 2050.
  • Replacement of aging equipment, including filter media that has reached end of its service life.
  • Installation of a dichlorination system to remove excess chlorine and safeguard aquatic life.
