The Board of Contracts and Awards (C&A Board) reviews requests to award or amend contracts over $500,000 and recommends award or rejection to City Council or Public Utility Board. Meetings occur virtually on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. when there is regular business to conduct such as waivers of competitive bidding requests or to hear contract award protests from a bidder with legal standing.

The Equity in Contracting Program offers access to contracting and procurement opportunities, as well as guidance and technical assistance, to historically underutilized businesses interested in providing supplies, services, and public works support to the City of Tacoma. The program aims to support a competitive and fair business environment for contracting, procurement and consulting opportunities that includes small businesses owned by minority, women, and socially and economically disadvantaged people.
The Equity in Contracting Advisory Committee is comprised of 15 appointed members and acts in an advisory capacity to monitor compliance of the Equity in Contracting Program.
