District 2 Council Member Sarah Rumbaugh was sworn in to her second term with the Tacoma City Council on January 6, 2026.

Elected in November 2021 and re-elected in 2025, Council Member Rumbaugh envisions a more vibrant Tacoma that is supportive of business growth and the creation of more living wage jobs, while also helping community members who are in need. She serves as Chair of the Community Vitality and Safety Committee and is on the Government Performance and Finance Committee. Council Member Rumbaugh is the chair of the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center Board.

“I am deeply grateful to the residents of District 2 for placing their trust in me for a second term,” said Council Member Rumbaugh. “I am committed to building vibrant, inclusive communities where every resident has the opportunity to thrive. I look forward to working alongside neighbors, local organizations, and my Council colleagues to create a Tacoma that supports economic growth and strengthens the well-being of all who live here.”

Council Member Rumbaugh’s priorities for her second term include preserving funding for domestic violence and sexual assault programs, leading the Community, Vitality and Safety Committee through updates of the Rental Housing Code and other complex policy topics, supporting efforts to enhance tree coverage across Tacoma, economic vitality in Downtown Tacoma and other business districts, enhancing access to food for children in Tacoma, and addressing affordable housing and homelessness at a regional level.

“I’m excited to join Council Member Rumbaugh as she is sworn in for another term,” said Mayor Ibsen. “Her leadership in advancing a unified, regional approach to homelessness has helped bring greater coordination, balance, and accountability to complex challenges. I look forward to continuing to build on that work together in the term ahead.”
