The Tacoma Fire Department is seeking a skilled and experienced Fire & Marine Equipment Shop Supervisor to oversee and lead the Fire Department vehicle and apparatus maintenance facility. Under the direction of the assigned Fire Chief, you will play a crucial role in community safety by ensuring all equipment is maintained to the highest operational and safety standards. The classification of Fire & Marine Equipment Shop Supervisor is classified and represented by Local 160. In this role, you will be expected to provide supervisory guidance and lead technical work in the maintenance and repair of the City’s fire and marine equipment including fire trucks, fire engines, fire boats, staff vehicles and related firefighting equipment. This additionally includes coordinating service schedules, record keeping, and overseeing maintaining parts inventory.
Qualifications
An equivalent combination to:
Graduation from high school and five years of experience in the repair and maintenance of fire, marine or heavy equipment, and supervisory experience.Licenses, Certifications, and other Requirements:
Possession of a valid Washington Driver’s License with Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License certification at the time of appointment and maintenance thereafter.For more information and to apply:

Tacoma Fire Department Minimum Job Requirements (Firefighter)
You must meet the following criteria to be eligible for employment with the Tacoma Fire Department:
- 18 years of age at the time of application
- Possession of a valid Washington State Driver’s License at the time of appointment
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
- A non-smoker/tobacco user within the last two years
Applicants must pass all portions of the selection process, which includes:
- Written examination
- Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT)
- Oral examination
- Medical examination
- Background check including driving record, criminal history, credit history
