- HMO stands for “Health Maintenance Organization”
- Participants may only visit doctors that are within the HMO network
- Most healthcare services run through a primary care physician (PCP). While specialist referrals are generally required, participants can self-refer to many specialists within the HMO network.

At Kaiser Permanente’s website, members can securely schedule in person visits, E-visits, phone or video visits, chat with a Kaiser Permanente clinical, receive 24/7 advice, access their medical record and after visit summaries, email their health care provider, refill prescriptions, and more. Members can also find support with wellness tools, free self-care apps, online healthy lifestyle programs and videos, wellness coaching, podcasts, recipes, reduced rates for services such as acupuncture, massage therapy and gym memberships, web-based health educations classes, support groups, chronic condition workshops, information on more than 5,000 health topics and more.
