Director
Shelby Fritz
Effective August 16, 2021, Shelby Fritz was appointed as the Human Resources Director. As Human Resources Director, Ms. Fritz is responsible for overseeing services provided to City of Tacoma departments, including employee recruitment, selection, and hiring; employee relations; classification and compensation; benefits; disability and leave management; Equal Employment Opportunity compliance; continuous improvement; and training and development.
Ms. Fritz joined the City of Tacoma in June 2017 to co-lead the Human Resources Department’s Talent Services Division. Prior to coming to the City of Tacoma, she served as Human Resources Director for Clover Park Technical College, Human Resources Manager for the University of Washington School of Medicine’s Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry, and Director of Academic Human Resources, along with several other roles, at the University of Washington Tacoma.
