The Parking Technical Advisory Group (PTAG) reviews current parking policies and how they impact current stakeholders throughout Tacoma.

The PTAG periodically makes recommendations to the city manager regarding changes to existing policies or the establishment of new policies to ensure that the parking system adheres to the adopted guiding principles.

Formerly the Parking Management Advisory Task Force, PTAG began as a group of approximately 60 stakeholders who met throughout 2008 and 2009 to discuss parking issues within the downtown core.  In November 2010, City Council adopted Ordinance 27840, formally establishing the Parking Advisory Management Task Force.

Membership

The PTAG consists of up to 12 volunteer members appointed by the City Manager. Each volunteer is appointed for a two-year term. The PTAG members include business and property owners, large parking generators, residents, and parkers.

Staff Support

The Transportation Division of the Public Works Department provides staffing support to PTAG.

Become a Member of Tacoma's Parking Technical Advisory Group

Applicants seeking a position in the PTAG must use Tacoma's transportation system. Appointees will serve a two-year term. Fill out the PTAG application form and submit it to parking@tacoma.gov. The PTAG co-chairs will review all applications, and interviews of the most qualified applicants will be conducted before making recommendations to the City Manager.
