Sister City Council

The first Sister City Program, Sister Cities International, was created in 1956 at the request of President Eisenhower, giving national focus to affiliations between cities in the United States and in other countries. The objectives of the Sister City Council are to enhance international communication, acquaint citizens of Tacoma with cultural and political diversity of the world, and to encourage international trade and tourism development.

Miyembro

Appointing authority for the Sister City Council membership was established by Resolution 37938 and the terms of membership are ongoing. The membership includes a diverse representation of Tacoma-Pierce County residents.
