SUMMARY:Hearing Examiner's Hearing
DESCRIPTION:How to Attend Hearings\nInterested individuals should be aware that in-person meeting restrictions related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have now been lifted by the State and the City. As a result\, any hearings conducted by the Hearing Examiner’s Office that include public testimony (e.g.\, rezones\, street vacations\, local improvement districts) as part of the agenda will\, of necessity\, have a public attendance component\, and unless otherwise noticed\, attendance will be possible in the City Council Chambers located at the Tacoma Municipal Building at 747 Market Street. \nIn order to expand opportunity for attendance\, these in-person hearings will still have a remote attendance option (via the internet or telephone) over the Zoom platform. Zoom attendance information can be found here. \nIn appeal hearings (i.e.\, hearings without public testimony)\, an in-person component is not required and the hearing will be scheduled either for in-person or remotely through technology by the preference and agreement of the parties to the appeal. \nFor members of the public wishing to attend any scheduled public hearing and/or offer testimony\, you may offer testimony in writing at any time prior to the hearing date\, and you may also participate by teleconference and offer testimony in that medium. You will need a computer\, phone or tablet that has the Zoom app installed. It is free. The Hearing Examiner’s Office can be contacted as follows: \nPhone\n(253) 591-5195 \nEmail\nhearing.examiner@tacoma.gov

SUMMARY:Beyond the Bin: Fourth Fridays
DESCRIPTION:Free Community Reuse Events\nLooking to clear out clutter without filling up the landfill? Bring your usable items to a weekly Beyond the Bin Community Reuse Event at the Tacoma Recovery & Transfer Center and donate them to local nonprofit partners who will reuse\, repurpose\, and redistribute them back into the community. It’s a simple way to reduce waste\, support neighbors\, and keep valuable materials in use. \nFourth Fridays with NW Furniture Bank\nThe fourth Friday of each month\, April – September\, we’re partnering with Northwest Furniture Bank. View a full list of NW Furniture Bank’s accepted items. \nItems are accepted on a first-come\, first-served basis. Events will end once collection trucks are full. We reserve the right to decline items for any reason\, including condition\, size\, demand\, market value\, or seasonality. Oversized\, hazardous\, damaged\, or non-accepted items will not be accepted. Participants are responsible for safe disposal of declined items.  \nPlease note: the items we accept are subject to change\, depending on which organization we’re partnering with for each event.
