SUMMARY:City Council Public Hearing: South Tacoma Groundwater Protection District Code Update
DESCRIPTION:On August 12\, 2025\, the City Council will conduct a public hearing on proposed amendments to the South Tacoma Groundwater Protection District (STGPD) code and Tacoma Municipal Code (TMC) Title 13. The hearing will be held during the Council meeting and will begin upon completion of the regular agenda items\, no earlier than 5:15 p.m. Council meetings are conducted in a hybrid format with in-person and virtual options to attend.\nThe STGPD is a zoning overlay created to protect the South Tacoma aquifer\, a vital source of drinking water. The district regulates high-impact uses\, hazardous materials\, and stormwater infiltration within its boundaries. The City is currently reviewing proposed updates to the code governing this district\, as required by the State Growth Management Act and guided by Council direction. The updates aim to strengthen protections for the South Tacoma aquifer. The Council is now seeking public input on the proposed amendments recommended by the Planning Commission.\nDetails on how to participate in the hearing and submit comments on the proposal are available at tacoma.gov/stgpd. Written comments must be sent to cityclerk@tacoma.gov or 733 Market Street\, Room 11\, Tacoma\, WA 98402 by 5 p.m. on August 11\, 2025.\n\nAttend the hearing either in person or online via Zoom: \n\nIn Person:\nCouncil Chambers\n1st Floor\, Tacoma Municipal Building\n747 Market Street\, Tacoma\, WA 98402\nVirtual (Zoom):\nWebinar Link: www.zoom.us/j/84834233126\nPasscode: 349099\nDial-In Option: Call 253-215-8782\nMeeting ID: 848 3423 3126\n\n\nCommunity members seeking additional details and background materials on the proposed code amendments to the STGPD and TMC Title 13 – including the Planning Commission’s letter of recommendation and Findings of Fact – can visit tacoma.gov/stgpd or contact Senior Planner Maryam Moeinian at mmoeinian@tacoma.gov or (253) 532-1446.

SUMMARY:Hearing Examiner's Hearing
DESCRIPTION:How to Attend Hearings\nInterested individuals should be aware that in-person meeting restrictions related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have now been lifted by the State and the City. As a result\, any hearings conducted by the Hearing Examiner’s Office that include public testimony (e.g.\, rezones\, street vacations\, local improvement districts) as part of the agenda will\, of necessity\, have a public attendance component\, and unless otherwise noticed\, attendance will be possible in the City Council Chambers located at the Tacoma Municipal Building at 747 Market Street. \nIn order to expand opportunity for attendance\, these in-person hearings will still have a remote attendance option (via the internet or telephone) over the Zoom platform. Zoom attendance information can be found here. \nIn appeal hearings (i.e.\, hearings without public testimony)\, an in-person component is not required and the hearing will be scheduled either for in-person or remotely through technology by the preference and agreement of the parties to the appeal. \nFor members of the public wishing to attend any scheduled public hearing and/or offer testimony\, you may offer testimony in writing at any time prior to the hearing date\, and you may also participate by teleconference and offer testimony in that medium. You will need a computer\, phone or tablet that has the Zoom app installed. It is free. The Hearing Examiner’s Office can be contacted as follows: \nPhone\n(253) 591-5195 \nEmail\nhearing.examiner@tacoma.gov
